We are seeking to appoint a Central Print Services Lead Technician to provide first/second line IT support.

Essential requirements for this post include a high level of customer service skills, an ability to prioritise a workload, meet deadlines, experience of working with a managed print service and producing monthly reports. A high level of organisation skills is required.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Maintaining a fleet of over 200 Multi-Function Devices (MFD'S) across all QMUL sites.
  • To ensure that all MFD'S are always operational 
  • To inspect allocated MFD devices on a daily basis and maintain a log of inspection
  • Ensure consumables for the fleet are maintained by regular inspection (paper stock, toner replacement) or provided on demand 
  • To review work tickets from IT Helpdesk and manage requests, escalating unresolved issues to your line manager or forwarding to relevant team
  • To liaise with external suppliers to resolve technical issues
  • Manage the print supplier relationship and SLA
  • Knowledge of or willing to learn specialist software Papercut.   
  • Experience of network and server issues that may affect the print service
  • To work with in-house teams such as Networks, Campus Support Services to resolve issues
  • Knowledge of or willing to learn about IT tools associated with the print service  
  • Monitor and utilise the fleet to achieve maximum efficiency
  • Manage new request of printers and process orders with Suppliers
  • To assist with the logistics and new installations of print devices across all QMUL sites
  • Experience of running financial, environmental and services reports
  • The accurate recording of all consumables used by departments to control stock levels
  • Produce management information reports to demonstrate cost of service 
  • Demonstrate strong communication and management skills. Be able to communicate at all levels of management and customers
  • To be able to give general advice and assistance to staff, students and visitors on the operation of a MFD device  
  • Ability to trouble shoot print issues and identify solutions or who should address such issues
  • To support and promote the Central Print Service and the CopyShop (in-house print service) service 
  • To undertake any ad hoc duties as requested by the CopyShop Manager
  • To carry out responsibilities with due regard to the policies and procedures of the University

The starting salary will be Grade 3, £29,642 per annum inclusive of London Allowance.
