We are looking for a friendly, engaging, enthusiastic person to join the School of Psychology Technical Services Team. You will work together with colleagues to provide technical support, ensuring day-to-day operational needs are met.

You will:

  • Provide advice and solutions to staff on technical specification requirements for both IT hardware and software. 
  • Raise orders to purchase IT and specialist equipment, obtaining quotes and locating supplies whilst adhering to current University procurement policies.
  • Deploy IT equipment, re-install and relocate computers as required 
  • Be available to deal with urgent queries onsite (e.g. teaching room technical issues)
  • Maintain asset database records, complying with UoN security policies
  • Be a main point of contact for UG/PGT student queries, providing excellent customer service resolving issues, troubleshooting and escalating queries as appropriate 
  • Updating and reviewing School webpages and Moodle content
  • Support in all aspects of technical operations

And you will bring:

  • The ability to undertake a range of technical support activities e.g. deployment of Mac/PC machines, installing software and IT troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of computing technical specifications to advise staff and students.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate with clarity on complex information.
  • A high level of customer service whilst working to deadlines.
  • Accuracy, reliability and the willingness and adaptability to learn new skills and procedures.
  • An extensive level of IT skills, including MS Office suite (eg. Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint and Teams).

Experience with Apple Macs in a multi-user setting is highly desirable, as is a firm familiarity with Linux and Windows.

This post is available on a permanent basis. Hours or work are full time (36.25 hours). Job share arrangements may be considered.
