SOAS University of London is the leading higher education institution in Europe specialising in the study of Asia, Africa and the Near and Middle East. We are positioned to play a leading role in reimagining higher education globally, with a new strategic plan in place as the basis for the renewal and revitalisation of the university which commits us to both student responsiveness and research intensity.
The HR directorate plays an essential role in enabling the university to mobilise its people, harnessing their talents, and empowering them to deliver against SOAS’ ambitious plans. HR Business Partners work closely with key stakeholders in their colleges and departments to provide strategic and operational input into their people agenda. This ranges from developing workforce plans, to driving employee engagement, coaching and developing managers, and advising on employee relations issues.
As we grow our HR Business Partner team, we are searching for an experienced Associate HR Business Partner to join our team in delivering a high-quality partnering service. As the key contact for managers, building credibility and trusted relationships is a must. You will provide advice and support on individual cases, influencing and effectively handling challenges where needed, and referring to the HR Business Partner for guidance on more complex matters. You will be confident in using HR systems, data and reporting tools to support managers with key information that informs decisions and actions. Working jointly with other HR teams, you will demonstrate the importance of providing a seamless, quality service to our managers and workforce.
We are looking for someone who is a strong team player with a positive can-do attitude, and a willingness to learn and grow. You will have experience of applying your knowledge of HR management, employee relations and employment law to effectively advise managers on interpreting HR policies and procedures and coaching them to reach pragmatic solutions to people issues. You will have excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, and a strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
You will be joining a friendly and supportive team where you will be encouraged to contribute ideas towards developing the team further and where you will be supported to grow and develop. You will enjoy some great benefits, including 30 days holiday, with additional bank holidays and closure days, generous employer pension contribution rates (currently 14.5%), gym discounts, enhanced maternity and sick pay arrangements and a lot more!
